Karate competitive
In recent years, rules were formulated simulated combat to avoid serious injury, in order to introduce karate as a competitive sport. Karate tournament is a game of reflexes that requires timing, speed, technique, strategy, and control, where prevail honor, loyalty and sense of commitment.
During the tournaments, all the blows, though highly focused, must be checked just before the contact. Although it is very exciting to watch, the tournament karate is considered by most teachers as a step and not as the main objective in the development of the karateka.

In 50 years, universities in Japan began to promote karate competitions. The 1st World Karate Championship was held in 1970 in Tokyo, Japan, with the participation of 33 countries, and since then, every World Championships have been held every two years. In 2002, the 16th World Championships held in Madrid / Spain was attended by 84 countries.
Karate has spread rapidly, not only among the younger generations as a sport to improve strength, but has become a popular form of exercise for men and women in middle age to keep in shape. A growing number of karate academies have opened and held classes for children.
